Sumatra.....land of the Orangutans

I traveled for one month in Sumatra in April/May 2013. Its a huge island so I don't think I saw very much of it.  It's a truly beautiful place with some of the kindest people you could meet.  For me the highlights of my time in Sumatra were seeing wild Orangutans and gibbons, swimming in Lake Toba, meeting the locals in Bandeh Aceh, and snorkeling around Poula Weh island. Although its a truly beautiful place its heartbreaking to see that this huge island is covered in ever expanding palm oil plantations, which are destroying some of the richest rainforests in the world, and along with it the animals which live there.  So lets read labels and avoid palm oil before its all destroyed!

Here are some pictures from my time there.
